Florida State Parks Camping

How to book a Florida state park campsite

Start with a park and travel dates, then open the official reservation system at reserve.floridastateparks.org. Use the park’s own alerts page to check campground closures before making plans. A directory listing is a planning starting point, not a live availability feed.

Florida residents can make campsite or cabin reservations from one day to 11 months ahead. Nonresidents can book from one day to 10 months ahead. Reservations are prepaid. Unreserved, unoccupied sites may be available to walk-ins, but do not count on a same-day space at a popular park.

• Choose the equipment type honestly and check site length, driveway size, hookups and access.
• If you want to sleep inside a car or van, ask the park whether your specific setup is accepted before booking.
• Try alternate dates or nearby parks when your first choice is full; cancellations can reopen sites.
• Save your confirmation, check cancellation terms and contact the park about late arrival or gate access.

What does Florida state park camping cost?

The official reservation information lists base campsites at $16–$42 per night, depending on the park, and a nonrefundable $6.70 reservation fee per reservation—not per night. Treat these as published planning figures, not a guaranteed quote: your selected park and the booking checkout determine the actual price.

Budget for applicable taxes, utility charges and any other site-specific fees shown at checkout. Primitive sites and cabins have different rates. An annual entrance pass is not a campsite reservation and does not make overnight camping free.

• Being a Florida resident alone does not qualify everyone for a camping discount.
• Qualifying groups include Florida residents aged 65 or older, certain residents with qualifying disability documentation, and licensed family foster homes. Check the official eligibility and documentation requirements.
• Review cancellation and change charges before paying; a headline nightly rate is not the full trip cost.

Camping rules to check before you arrive

Stay inside your assigned campsite and use designated overnight areas. Day-use parking is not a camping reservation. State park campsites are not all alike: a primitive or boat-in site may have no nearby parking, showers or electricity.

Maximum stay lengths, quiet hours, occupancy, vehicle limits and check-in/check-out times should be confirmed with the selected park and the reservation terms. Do not apply a single stay limit to every kind of Florida public land.

• Pets: only in designated areas; where allowed, use a hand-held leash no longer than six feet. Confirm restrictions for the campground, trails and beach.
• Fires: designated areas only. Active burn bans can prohibit campfires and freestanding fire pits; ask which cooking methods remain allowed.
• Amenities: check the exact campground and site for showers, potable water, dump stations, power and accessibility.
• Safety: keep food secured, never feed wildlife, follow posted swimming advice, and leave for a sturdy shelter during dangerous weather.
• Closures: storm damage, construction and seasonal restrictions can change access even when an older listing describes camping.

Choose a park by your trip, not just its popularity

For beach trips, compare Anastasia, Grayton Beach and Bahia Honda. For springs and paddling, start with Silver Springs or Rainbow Springs. For an inland or river trip, compare Lake Kissimmee and Jonathan Dickinson. These are planning ideas, not promises of vacancies or a particular waterfront site.

The listings below include Florida state parks recorded in this directory. National parks, county parks and state forests use different operators and are excluded from this hub’s state-park list. Confirm current facilities and prices with the park; listing information is not a real-time inventory.
